Born and raised in NYC, Belinda Rosen holds the position of English horn/oboe of "The President's Own" United States Marine Band in Washington D.C. She is currently Acting Principal Oboe of the San Antonio Philharmonic and Principal Oboe/English horn of the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra.
Belinda Rosen has garnered an international presence playing the oboe and English horn to a wide range of audiences throughout the United States, South America, and Europe. She has engaged audiences as an orchestral and chamber musician and has developed a strong musical profile with her diverse range of recorded music. She made her European tour debut at the Edinburgh festival when Maestro Carlos Miguel Prieto conducted the Orchestra of the Americas in an August 2018 broadcast performance of Aaron Copland’s Symphony No. 3, Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and Carlos Chavez’ Sinfonia India.
While in a residency with the 2017 Orchestra of the Americas in Frutillar, Chile, Belinda recorded a CD with Grammy nominated Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Montero. Released in September 2019 with Orchid Classics, the CD features Belinda as English horn soloist in Ravel’s Piano Concerto and Montero’s very own Latin Concerto. Other recordings include works by Copland and Chavez on Pan-American Reflections with Linn Records. Belinda recorded Ingolf Dahl’s Concerto for Alto Saxophone with Timothy McAllister, and the University of Michigan Symphony Band, and an album of songs by Czech composer Vítězslava Kaprálova with the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Kenneth Kiesler.
She has enjoyed an active freelance career as well, performing with orchestras such as the San Francisco Symphony, Houston Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, Oakland Symphony, Monterey Symphony, California Symphony, Santa Rosa Symphony, Sacramento Philharmonic, among others. Belinda earned her Bachelors' degree in Oboe Performance from the University of Michigan in 2016 and graduated with top academic honors. She also holds a masters degree from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music and a Performance Studies Certificate from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Belinda is currently on faculty of the Eisman Center for the Preparatory Studies in Music at Queens College as well as both oboe teacher and chamber music coach at the 92nd Street Y. She also holds a private studio as well which she looks forward to expanding in the D.C. area.
Belinda's major teachers include Eugene Izotov, Robert Atherholt, Pedro Diaz, and Nancy Ambrose King. Born and raised in Belle Harbor, NY, Belinda is also a graduate of the premier LaGuardia High School for Music & Art and the Performing Arts.
